DANCE ALGARVE 2010, hosted by Associação da Dança Ibérica with the support of the Cultural division of the Town Council of Lagos, is under the direction of Gwen Franco, Gillian Anthony and Bernadete Bishop.

The four day Dance Course to be held over Easter 2010, specialising in classical ballet will be led by an international faculty offering classes in ballet – repertoire – flamenco, and NEW in 2010, CONTEMPORARY and MASK WORKSHOPS.

The event will take place at the Centro Cultural, a purpose-built arts complex in the center of Lagos, housing studios and a Theatre. Some classes will take place in nearby studios.

We are also proud to announce our first Master Class that will be given by MARIA PALMEIRIM, Ballet Mistress, Companhia Nacional de Bailado, Lisbon.

...all students who have studied ballet for at least two years. The age range will be from ten years upwards and all levels are welcome. In previous years students and teachers from every region of Portugal, including the Azores, many countries of Europe, Japan, Brazil and South Africa have participated.

Dance students need opportunities to experience classes with different teachers, meet other dance students and try-out new dance related subjects.

Dance Algarve offers classes where the development of technique, musicality and artistry go hand in hand alongside a focus on performance. Highly experienced musicians will accompany all ballet and flamenco classes.

On the final day of the course students will show examples of the range of subjects studied at the demonstration “On Stage!” to be held in the theatre at the Centro Cultural, for parents, friends and invited guests.

The third edition of this exciting Course will be held over a period of four days in the historic city and port of Lagos, located in the western part of the Algarve region of Portugal.
